Studies on the i n c o r p o r a t i o n of hexosyl residues i n t o peptidophosphogalactomannan i n t h i s l a b o r a t o r y have been confined to systems which t r a n s f e r mannosyl residues from GDP-D-mannose on to a polypeptide-(seryl/threonyl)-mannosyl acceptor to form the mannobiosyl-containing peptidophosphogalac tomannan (12) and a l s o on to a polypeptide-(phosphogalactomannan) to extend the mannan chain by one or two mannosyl residues (13).
