Although not proven yet, it appears as if all soybean mutants are mutated at the same locus. Several 'Bragg' derived nts mutants failed to show complementation, suggesting that all are in the same group. Recently, Landau-Ellis and Gresshoff (1992) demonstrated that a closely linked RFLP marker showed no recombination to two alleles at the nts locus, supporting the earlier genetic result.
